Full description

This eccentric little shrine entitled 'Doll' is assembled from found objects, paint and collage. It is a one off and totally unique.

It has been inspired by vintage fairgrounds and sideshows of yesteryear. There is a theme about self love and positive attitudes towards yourself. It's about turning the focus onto what's inside, what motivates us and our aspirations, that we are so much more than just how we look on the outside.

The central focal point is the smallest inside doll from a Russian Babushka or nesting doll set. This sweet little lady was all on her own at a car boot sale, having lost her sisters some time ago I think. She is now the centre of attention on this piece, sitting atop a tower of wooden baby blocks that spell out DOLL.

The reclaimed box is a wooden domino case, it looked a little sorry for itself originally. But now it has been given a new life and is rejuvenated. The sides on the outside of the box are painted with bright clashing colours of turquoise and yellow. The inside has been lined with circus style red and white striped paper.

A strip of altered tickets adorn each side of the assemblage, quoting words of positivity like create, explore, dream, wonder and love.

This whimsical assemblage measures 6 cm wide, 4 cm deep and stands 19 cm high.

This piece is for sale as a second as it is older work and I am clearing my studio for all the new art I am creating!
