I was at a jewellery makers' fair in Brighton when I saw a stall holder demonstrating Viking Knitting. I was really taken with it and bought the kit and started to follow the insructions as soon as I got home. Viking knitting doesn't just appeal to me as a process, but also because I have Viking heritage on my mother's side. Amethyst is my birth stone and, though I can't wear purple.. in spite of being an old woman.. see Jenny Joseph's poem... I love the stone.

Full description

A delightful Amethyst and silver plated bracelet made up of 3 strands. Two are Viking knitted purple enamelled copper wire and the middle strand is of Amethyst beads and chips. Brilliant for an Aquarian or someone born in February or who loves the stone and /or purple. The clasp is silver plated and magnetic, making putting on the bracelet super easy. All strands are joined together with silver coloured findings. The bracelet measures 7.5"/ 19cm long and is about 1"/2.5cm wide. Viking knitting is an ancient form of knitting predating, according to Google, knitting and crochet by 2000 years and is formed round the outside of a wooden batton...kind of the opposite of French knitting, which we all did as children using a Dolly or Knitting Nancy, which in my case was a wooden cotton reel with four nails hammered into the top. As with this technique Viking knitting forms a beautiful cord, which can be used in many ways. It is a simple meditative technique and I recommend anyone to try it.
