A very warm welcome to Elflock Woolworks at Waney Grain. I'm Karen and I'm a free-style experimental knitter working with luxurious yarns that feel silky-soft against the skin.My husband, Nick, is a woodturner and he is the Waney Grain side of this Folksy shop.
The inspiration for this beautiful scarf is a glorious rose called Ferdinand Pichard. I bought a little skein of utterly breathtaking 'pink' merino yarn from Ivy and Lilly, and when it arrive it reminded me so much of this rose! Ferdinand Pichard is a rose that displays a heady mixture of pink tones and a stunning fragrance. I decided to work this yarn in simple garter stitch, but make it more interesting by knitting it vertically. I decided to use a very pretty merino yarn to add flashes of cream and flowers to my creation I was overjoyed with the overall effect.

Full description
Beautifully soft hand knitted merino scarf.
Width 5.25 inches
Length: 58 inches
My primary yarn was the most delicious hand-dyed sock weight merino in roses, rhubarb and rosehip tones and I've contrasted this with a glorious merino floral blend from the same dyer, and worked them in alternating vertical stripes.
This vertical-knit scarf drapes so beautifully and quite differently from horizontal stitch alignment. My hand-knitted scarves display charming idiosyncrasies associated with artisan products. I work without patterns and create simple pieces from luxurious yarns. My scarves are designed and crafted by me, and I love the freedom that I have to create pieces that are unique, beautiful, tactile and eye-catching.
My work is intentionally distinct from the soulless perfection of machine-made items, and I craft my garments with enjoyment and enthusiasm. Any technical errors in my work are my own, and should be viewed as evidence of freeform knitting and problem solving! They are part of my garment's story, and are woven, quite literally, into its character.
Picture 5 shows this lovely scarf in folded style that creates a striking, bold edge
