A very warm welcome to Elflock Woolworks at Waney Grain. I'm Karen and I'm a free-style experimental knitter working with luxurious yarns that feel silky-soft against the skin.My husband, Nick, is a woodturner and he is the Waney Grain side of this Folksy shop.
This scarf is part of my 'Wearable Art' Collection. It's called 'The Chaffinch in a gorse bush' and was inspired by a glimpse of this charming little bird, hopping through the golden flowers on a gorse bush one afternoon in a Cornish hedgerow.: I use yarns to tell a tones-and-textures stitch story, and for this creation I wanted to capture the chaffinch's magical, subtle feather tones as it hops and scurries through the foliage and flowers.

Full description
This listing is for a very elegant and luxurious han- knitted scarf.
Weight: 165g
Length: 173 cms
Yarn weight: Sock weight/Fingering weight
Yarn varieties: Merino, Polwarth, Cashmere and 10% nylon
Stitch: Raspberry Stitch
This elegant and lightweight scarf is a perfect addition to a wardrobe.
The yarns that I have used are ultra soft and feel luxuriously sensual against the skin. They are all hand dyed in the UK, in small batches by talented artisans and it is my pleasure to support their passionate enterprises. If you would like more detail about these yarns please drop me a message. I have worked this scarf in Raspberry stitch, which is a pretty, textured stitch that creates tiny 'berries' in a four-row repeat pattern. This adds attractive and eye-catching shadows as the 'fabric' moves and drapes.
This is my 'Chaffinch in a gorse bush' scarf. In soft lavender, sage, butter-yellow, heather and plum tones, it would be a very elegant Summer accessory for a garden party, a day at the races or a wedding reception. It would be a very stylish accessory to wear on chilly Autumn days for a lunch in a cosy pub, a wander around an exhibition or a trip to the theatre.
