Full description
Pirate glass or black glass is a very old and very strong type of glass that dates way back to the times of sailors, pirates and scurvy. When safe drinking water was scarce sailors (and pirates) would drink ale or rum, rum was the most readily available and was often mixed with lime and sugar to help stave off scurvy. The rum and other liquids were often bottled in bottles made from dark, thick glass which would protect the contents from the harsh sun and rough seas.
Although the glass appears to be black it could actually be green, amber, blue, red and even purple.
This piece when dry has a stunning blue ombre appearance.
The seaglass is naturally formed, we don't tumble or reshape the glass in anyway. Any "C" marks or imperfections are created naturally by the sea.
A hole is bored using specialist equipment and we only use solid sterling silver findings.
The pendant comes complete with an 18 inch sterling silver fine trace chain.
