Re-purposed, re-imagined
Jewellery and objects made by award winning eco-artist, jeweller - Alison Bailey Smith, based in Wellington Road Studios, unit 2, 28a Wellington Road, Birkenhead, CH43 2JE
I have a material led practice and love combing colour and texture from found and donated objects. Recycling is at the heart of my practice and this piece has a bizarre combo and all gathered in a week.
Made November 2023

Full description
Compiled large brooch - sustainable. It came together when I added a found plastic chrome thing, with yellow stretchy thing from packaging from my studio mate’s kiln with telecom wire and my usual wire reclaimed from televisions. All backed with silicon rubbery backing made from - collapsable fruit bowl from ERNESTO from Lidl bought in a charity shop. Oh - and a metal ring from a bra strap. Also use lacquered wire bought from a UK based company.
Large brooch with waste recycled repurposed plastic, metal and silicon.
A gift for whom? A flamboyant eco warrior, a maximalist, those that love colour and texture.
Ready to go gift. Bizarrely with plastic free packaging!
Designed by Alison Bailey Smith in Liverpool
