So, 2021 saw the introduction of Strinsel - a 100% cotton string tinsel alternative. This year I've got another introduction to make - Strinsel made from nothing but JUTE and cotton thread.
I love my plain cotton Strinsel - it always makes me thing of the way snow lays on the branches of fir trees - but it was my quest for a more classic gold and silver Strinsel that led me to jute.
Jute fibres have a lustre, reflecting the light, giving it a slightly metallic shimmer. Plain jute varies in colour, from off white to golden brown, so perfect for a Gold Strinsel, but it also dyes really well. The possibilities for Strinsel are now endless...

It's not shiny, nor is it metallic, and for some it may not be quite 'gold' enough - this is Strinsel at its most rustic - but I stand by my decision to call it Golden Strinsel because jute's sustainability credentials ARE golden.
Each length of Jute Strinsel is approximately 2 metres. It should not be cut to size, otherwise it will all unravel and your floor will resemble the aftermath of a ticker tape parade. If you require a shorter length, feel free to contact me to discuss the option of creating a custom order.
Jute Strinsel must be kept a minimum of 1 metre away from fire, flame and other heat sources. Please do bear this in mind, especially if you use candles and/or fires (real flame or otherwise) at Christmas time. I don't use fire retardants on any of my products, but these are available to buy elsewhere in spray form should you want extra piece of mind or intend on using Strinsel in areas where this is required by law or legislation. Legally, I'm not able to offer fire retarding as a service, nor am I able to advise on this matter.
Jute Strinsel is made using Everlasto 100% Jute Twine. Everlasto products were developed at the James Lever Factory in Bolton, UK, where they've been manufacturing twine, cord and rope for over 150 years.
I keep marketing materials to a minimum and all packaging I use can be re-used, composted and/or widely recycled.
