Suspended from an unusual barleycorn chain, this tactile sterling silver locket opens with a cradle hinge has a generous interior in which to store a cherished keepsake such as a photograph, a piece of material, a baby’s first tooth or a lock of hair. The satin finish of the interior contrasts with the highly polished exterior while the bird motif has been planished to catch the light.
It is gently domed on both sides, which makes it a beautiful item both to hold and to wear. The prominent laser hallmarking on the reverse complements the locket’s contemporary design, and the quirky folk-style bird motif makes the locket stand out as something truly original.
It is hallmarked with the maker’s own mark.
Being entirely handmade with hand tools, it bears the honesty marks of such craftsmanship and will not have the immaculate finish you would see on an item from a High Street jeweller. This is because mass produced objects are designed to be the same every time and are factory-finished with industrial machines. With this locket, you are buying something that is truly original and which honours the time and talent that has gone into creating it.
