I love the strength and grace of yoga but found it a challenge to find paintings which depict how I experience the energy that flows through a yoga pose.
I decided to experiment with a lack of solidness to the lines of the yogi as a way of expressing this energy. Using light reflecting paints and glitters helped to create the ethereal feel.a

"Rise" - Acrylic/ mixed media on canvas board. Framed.

"Rise" depicts a a graceful strong upward facing dog (or Urdhva Mukha Svanasana) pose on a deep warm purple background, highlighted with iridescent gold, blue and orange flashes and finished with sparkling golden energy from the glittery sky.
"Rise" is an original piece of art, painted on canvas board using acrylic and glitter mixes of paint.
The iridescent paint gives the painting a subtle shift in colour as you move position around it (as highlighted in the photos). This makes it even more of a delight in real life than photos can do justice to!
The painting is mounted and framed with a glass front.
