Full description
This pair of budgies sitting on a perch has been made using a needle felting technique.Both the budgies and the perch have made using woollen fibres and a barbed felting needle to sculpt them into shape. The sculpture or model consists of two budgies, one blue and white and the other green and yellow. After sculpting the main body of each budgie, long tail feathers with a wire central core have been added. The feet have been made using wire wrapped in wool with a light covering of wax. Each budgie is approximately life sized and measures 23cm (10") long, measured from the top of the head to the tip of the tail. The budgies have then been mounted on a needle felted perch which is fixed to a rustic wooden base to provide stability.
Many hours of work have gone into making this budgie as life like as possible. He is fairly robust but will not withstand constant handling or rough treatment and is not suitable as a toy.
The ornament measures approximately 25cm tall x 17cm wide.
