When I lived in Hackney it was a little less glamorous than it is now. I was invited to contribute a series of postcard sized artworks to an exhibition in Brixton and decided to celebrate the beautiful places close to home. The Empire was an obvious choice as it has pride of place in Mare Street and is such a lovely venue to see performances.

Full description
This item is a limited edition 10x8" Giclee print of a hand-drawn illustration, drawn on location. The beautiful Hackney Empire theatre was built in 1901. This would be ideal for theatre goers and other local residents, or visitors to the area and t he theatre, as well as actors.
Paper used is Hahnemuehle Pearl.
I created a series of illustrations focusing on beautiful places in the London Borough of Hackney. This is a popular place for performances, especially the annual pantomime.
