I love the story of Blodeuwedd, the goddess of flowers in Welsh Mythology, who was made of broom, meadowsweet and oak by the wizard Gwydion, and destined to be the wife of Lleu Llaw Gyffes. However, she falls in love with another man (Gronwr) and as punishment is turned into an owl Gwydion and she is cursed never to show her face in the light of day again.
The story is beautiful and sad, and I wanted to capture the magic of the transition from woman to owl in my illustration.
