Full description
These little freshwater rice pearls are described by the stockist of the loose pearls as baby blue in colour. However the shade is very, very pale, and to my eyes they look a silvery white colour. Nevertheless they are very pretty with a pearly sheen.
Rice pearls are elongated freshwater pearls, often with a crinkled or ringed surface. These particular pearls have a fairly smooth surface although some of them are of better lustre than others. The pearls are quite tiny: each 3.5 – 4mm long. I have strung them on silk: the traditional medium, and have knotted between each pearl, an old-fashioned technique that ensures a good drape and also security in the unlikely event that the silk breaks.
I have finished the necklace with sterling silver findings: a tiny bead, French wire (gimp) and a lobster clasp.
The necklace is 50cms (20 ins) long.
The necklace will be sent wrapped in acid-free tissue paper and posted in a sturdy cardboard box for safe travel.
WHEN YOU BUY THIS ITEM £7 WILL BE DONATED TO TOYBOX, A CHARITY HELPING STREET CHILDREN ACROSS THE GLOBE. This amount is calculated by subtracting materials and admin costs from the price of the item. I do not charge for my time in making it.
