This staff is the result of wanting to craft something quite different, and quite 'distinguished'. A combination of a delightful Welsh Hazel shank, Water Buffalo horn 'horseshoe' handle, Blackthorn oval shaped caps and copper collar.This was truly a labour of love, testing my ability to achieve both aesthetic, and structural perfection.

Full description
Horn handle thumbstick, Walking stick, Hiking staff, with a Buffalo horn handle capped with Blackthorn wood, with a polished copper joint collar. This beautifully hand crafted, Welsh mottled Hazel staff is a very attractive, distinctive, and individual piece, and certain to draw admiring glances, or become conversation piece! The shank has been seasoned for two years, steam straightened, and coaxed into revealing its natural beauty before being finished with two coats of clear, matt varnish to waterproof it. The Water Buffalo horn handle was shaped by hand before fitting to the staff using long standing, and time proven traditional methods, left unpolished with a matt finish, then the ends were capped with Blackthorn wood caps. The joint is strengthened by the addition of a polished, copper joint collar. The staff is 50 inches (127cm) from the bottom of the 'U' handle, and approximately 7/8th inch (2.2cm) under the collar, tapering to approximately 3/4 inch (1.9cm)
