We visited the South-West of France quite a few years ago, the Dordogne region more specifically. I found it very colourful and everywhere I looked something inspired me. We ended up in this large market in one of the towns and spotted this flower stall with the green umbrella which just begged to be painted. The result is an impressionistic style still life of flowers only suggested with a few brushstrokes by dipping my brush into pure colours on my palette. The aim was to capture the feel of the place, the sunny day, the colours and richness of the area. It seems to me that in France any produce is just perfect and impeccable.
