Full description

Ogham rune pendant, a ceramic rune, finished with a rustic crackle glaze and blue tones.

Ogham is an Early Medieval alphabet used primarily to write the early Irish language. Each Ogham corresponds with a tree and can have various metaphorical meanings. Oghams are mixed with different meanings and symbolism and are deeply connected spiritually and culturally. Pronunciation Eh-yuh, edath, or eh-dad.

Eadhadh is the Irish name of the nineteenth letter of the Ogham alphabet, . In Old Irish, the letter name was Edad. Its phonetic value is e. The original meaning of the letter name is unknown, but it is likely an artificially altered pairing with Idad, much like Gothic pairra, qairra. Meaning Brave, defeating your fears, perception, and divination. Representing the visual quaking of an Aspen tree, Edad symbolises fear and how acknowledging your worries can empower you and help you to overcome them. Aspen is solid but flexible. Edad can also represent enlightenment and connection to the universe through an altered state of consciousness (meditation, trance, dreams, intoxication).
