Part of a sequence of work exploring ornamental turning...the idea being you can make repeated patterns...in this case I made a MDF table using a drawer runner and two strong elastic bands that I put on the lather bed, then used a dremel with small router bits to make the marks as I turned the lathe manually and a wheel with patterns on the lathe that I had made from MDF allowed the dremel to go in and out of the workpiece at the correct rotary interval...

Full description

A small box I turned on the lathe, then used "ornamental turning" techniques to make repeating patterns, which is good fun, though a bit labourious & note, in places the patterns are not perfectly uniform, as you can see in the photos if you look carefully... (the lid has a semi thread, so it secures, but only gently as if forced it can make it hard to undo, so I have waxed the threads to help it...but as it is wood, it will slightly expand and contract with the humidity)
