All about Indigo-Japanese Indigo dye is prized for being a beautiful colour and for its more practical qualities. Clothes made from the natural Indigo dye, unlike cheaply produced chemical dyes, get better with age. Instead of fading and looking tired and worn-out, indigo’s organic qualities mean that they age like leather does.
The medicinal properties of Indigo are well known, it has been consumed in Japan since ancient times as an antibacterial, known to strengthen the immune system and fight common colds. It can be extracted by powdering the plant's root, flowers and seeds. It even beats blueberries in this aspect, containing four times more antioxidants, and is widely incorporated into Japanese foods and teas.

Full description

Botanical Art - I have called this piece Indigo- Where palm-shaped Acer Japonica leaves gather in a blue circle, for this traditional Cyanotype.

The Indigo plant is widely grown across Japan and the colour is also known as 'Japan Blue'. The green leaves once picked take about a year to produce the characteristic Indigo blue colour by drying and a fermentation process.

This would look stunning in a hallway, making a real statement.

This Photogram is created on 300gsm acid-free watercolour paper.

Named ‘Indigo’ numbered and signed on the reverse, it comes with a Certificate of Authenticity as an Original Artwork 1/1

The Artwork is NOT MOUNTED OR FRAMED (Re mounting artwork please see Buying from Me in my shop front)

The Artwork paper size A3 (29.7 x 42cm) for you to place into a Frame of your choice.

The Artwork's center circle of blue is approximately 25cm in diameter.

This Artwork will fit into a frame size:

A3 with no mount

16" x 20" with a mount

The photogram will be protected with a sheet of glassine then rolled into a postal tube, on arrival, place it face down on the glassine sheet and pop some books on top to flatten it for 24/36 hrs. The tube is reusable and recyclable. Colour and contrast may vary slightly from the image on screen due to monitor/screen settings. See more original Photograms in Hazleton Art 'Circles Collection'.
