A Fused Glass Chain? Really?
I watched a tutorial on how to get this effect and was so taken by it that I had to have a go. Some trial and error (if you position the glass pieces too close to each other they WILL fuse together), I managed to get a result I liked.
We have a couple of similar chains hanging in our conservatory - they look amazing in the light.
When we've shown similar pieces at our craft fairs they have caused a lot of comments.

Another of our commemorative pieces ready for the coronation of King Charles III in May 2023
This chain has six square links, each of which is made of 4 pieces of coloured glass, approximately 6 cm by 1 cm. There are two links of translucent Red, White & Blue glass.
Every one of the 24 pieces of glass that make up this chain is individually hand-cut before being carefully laid out in the kiln and fired to around 800 C, fusing the squares in place, but somehow leaving each link free from the others.
We then string it from a length of stainless steel chain so you can hang this beauty from a shelf, in the window, or wherever catches your fancy. When hung up, it is approximately 31 cm long, plus the chain.
We would not recommend hanging this piece outside during windy weather, or when there is a risk of ice forming.
Each link is fully articulated and moves within its neighbours - it's magic.
All our Fused Glass Goodies are designed an hand-crafted at our studio in Shropshire.
