I began as an artist working digitally. These new digital images are an accidental outcome of experiments with creating images that I might make using screen printing or RISOgraph. I liked them so much, I decided to offer them in this format.

Full description
'Protesilaus, first to fall', is a digital print in a series I call 'War Music'. The series takes inspiration from Christopher Logue's rendering of Homer's Iliad, published as 'War Music'. I’ve also drawn on other sources, including the poem ‘Memorial’ by Alice Oswald.
There is no literal link, the titles just seem to ‘fit’ the images. Alice Oswald's poem starts with Protesilaus, jumping from his ship, only to die.
The first to die was Protesilaus
A focused man who hurried to darkness
With forty black ships leaving the land behind
Each print in the series is 27 cm x 27 cm (about 10.5" x 10.5") on 30 cm x 30 cm sheets. I print to order using light fast pigment inks on 285 gsm archival quality matt paper, then sign and number each one. The edition size is 70. I am offering 10 here. Because these are printed to order, there is a slightly extended delivery time. Please send me a message if that is likely to cause problems and I will do my best to speed things up.
This is not a reproduction. There is no picture in another medium which this copies. The image was made entirely in the computer, using data generated from my own original art, but transformed to create entirely new works.
Frames or mats shown in the listing are for illustration only. I offer mounted or framed versions, but only via my own website.
I retain all copyright in the image. Your purchase does not include a transfer of copyright.
