Full description

Medieval Needle Felted Lady - Portia

There are three caskets ... one gold, one silver and one lead - but only one contains the portrait of Portia.

Portia is a beautiful, young and wealthy heiress who is bound by her father's will to marry only the man who chooses the casket containing her portrait. She is elated when Bassanio (once a visitor to Belmount) chooses the lead casket which contains her portrait.

Portia has been hand crafted from pure wool, sourced in the UK, and stands on a hardwood plinth. Her mohair locks are individually secured and given by Tansy, one of our Angora goats. She is adorned with reclaimed costume jewellery including a copper antique circlet and holds the iron key to the lead casket. A wire armature is used for her arms and shoulders.

Measurements: 9 inches x 5 inches (not including the wooden plinth)

Portia (pronounced paw-shuh) is for ornamental purposes only and is not a toy. She is a collectable item, there are currently 2 other Shakespearian ladies in the collection (Mariana and Isabella).

Not suitable for children.
