My love of pre-Raphaelite art and the work of Sir John Everett Millais' 'Mariana', in turn, inspired by Shakespeare's 'Measure for Measure'.

Sweet Mariana
This is Shakespeare's Mariana ... a medieval gentlewoman, who awaits her lover. She lives in a moated grange, feels despondent in her dreary isolation and is brooding for Angelo ...

But wait, Mariana ... you will have a happy ending.
This medieval lady is handcrafted in the Waldorf style from pure wool including Cotswold, Merino and Blue Faced Leicester. The locks of her hair are from black Wensleydale and are individually secured. She is adorned with reclaimed costume jewellery. Her arms and shoulders have a wire armature and her necklace is secured with fine wire.
Mariana carries a lantern which is hand crafted ... the candle is made from pure beeswax and is complete with a wick.
Mariana is for ornamental purposes only and not suitable for children. She is a collectable item - there are currently two other Shakespearian ladies in the collection (Isabella and Portia).
She measures 8.75 inches high x 6 inches wide excluding the hardwood plinth.
A beautiful hand crafted heirloom.
