Paddling straight out of the bay at Applecross gave me a disturbed but sunny view of The Isle of Skye (absolutely gorgeous). Getting the full silhouette was impossible due to the size of Skye and the Isle of Raasay protruding into my line of vision. Anyway I persisted and managed to get a fairly accurate image from the top of a nearby hill.
I am very pleased with how this picture has turned out. The colours are rich and deep and with it being glass it shines as you pass by it.

'ISLE OF SKYE' is a subtle mix of Scottish colours. The actual isle has been very carefully painted using finely ground black, gold, and copper powdered glass. The foreground is cut shapes of streaky brown and caramel sheet glass. A tiny bit of bling has been added by scattering little sections of dichroic glass. Once the picture was completed it was then fused in my kiln at 1400 where all sections became one!
'ISLE OF SKYE' took me approximately 6 hours to make. A lot of time was spent just stepping back from the picture to see how each piece of glass settled into the final composition.
I am pleased with the final picture. It has a kind of tranquil soft quality to it.
