It was truly a thrill to forage for the wonderful weed used in my artwork (All restrictions for collecting seaweed faithfully followed) Some of the seaweed I used: Egg Wrack, Bladder Wrack, Carrageen, Sea Lettuce, Serrated Wrack, Sea Spaghetti and Cocks Comb.
Once home the seaweed was washed and some I pressed for drying, the remainder I used to make the Wet Cyanotypes for this collection. As an experiment, I used papers and canvases I had for printing photos. Unsure how they would turn out, or even if they would fix at all, mostly they gave some super results, shiny appearances and vivid colours.

Part of a unique collection of Cyanotype photograms, showcasing Seaweed I collected from the coast of Jersey in the Channel Islands.
By using the Wet Cyanotype technique on photo printing paper and canvas, the finished photograms have almost three-dimensional qualities and show the intricacies of the seaweed’s tender fronds and air bladders as if they are alive and freely floating.
For further information on the Cyanotype and Wet Cyanotype techniques see ‘About' in my shop. The MOUNTED PHOTOS show the final Photogram, the others show it being created.
Created on 260gsm acid free Photo printing matt canvas and comes hinge mounted to a backboard and White mount both acid free and in a fully recyclable protective bag.
Named ‘Foraged Fruits’ she showcases underwater bubbles and frothy fronds in muted blues and turquoise. It is numbered and signed on the reverse and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity as an Original Artwork 1/1
Mounted Size 11” x 14” (27.94 x 35.56cm) ready for you to place into a standard 11” x14” frame of your choice.
Aperture size is 8” x 10” (20.32 x 25.4cm)
The photogram will be posted out in an all board envelope which is reusable and recyclable.
