The success of this star last Christmas is what gave me the confidence and the money to pursue my work as This Thing is String. Not a day goes by when I don't thank my lucky star (tree toppers).

A simple star to sit proudly on top of the Christmas tree. This was the first tree topper I ever made (not counting the time I stuck a Sindy doll in a white frock up there) and it's the product I credit with setting me off on this string odyssey.
This Star measures 15cm x 15cm x 1cm (total length including the coil is 25cm) and is perfect for small to medium sized Christmas trees, or on larger trees if you prefer a more subtle statement.
Loose or unintentionally wonky tree toppers have always been a bit of a bugbear of mine, so I make the coils for my tree toppers in two sizes. The Standard Coil is 1cm in diameter and will fit securely to most real Christmas trees and narrower artificial trees. The Wide Coil is 2cm in diameter and is a good choice for fuller trees, especially larger artificial trees. To fix the Star to your tree, just twist the wire coil around the leader branch.
Please do bear in mind these items are hand made so all measurements I give are approximate.
I use Everlasto strings and twines from the James Lever Factory in Bolton, UK, where they've been manufacturing twine, cord and rope for over 150 years. Natural cotton string is intended for practical uses so slight inconsistencies in colour, flecks and blemishes are all part of the charm.
All my string "things" are plastic free. I keep marketing materials to a minimum and all packaging I use can be re-used, composted and/or widely recycled.
