Twirly Whirly Birds are my collection of garden bird sculptures that spin in the wind. Each Bird can be bought with a rusty finish or a colourful finish. A simple design with a smooth movement. Twirly Whirly Birds work well as individual birds and look great as a collective group, enhancing the movement and colour of any outdoor space.
I have been working on these for a couple of years, trying to perfect the movement and simplify the design. My childhood fascination with my grandads whirligigs started my interests in exploring movement in sculptures.
I chose to do a collection of birds as they are our little garden friends and I enjoy watching them busily building nests and feeding their young. The Twirly whirly birds are bright and busy, and beautiful to watch as they spin and twirl.
I have designed a number of different ways to install The birds. Handmade brackets come as part of the bird unit. They can dress up fencing panels and brick walls when mounted vertically with a bracket or thread pin or can be installed into the garden borders and beds set upon a steel rod. The rods are 1.2 m high so stand proud in your foliage.
