Re-purposed, re-imagined
Jewellery and objects made by award winning eco-artist, jeweller - Alison Bailey Smith, based in Wellington Road Studios, unit 2, 28a Wellington Road, Birkenhead, CH43 2JE
Made in Wirral by me, Alison Bailey Smith. I trained as a jeweller in Edinburgh in the 80s and 90s and have been recycling since then, in different places all round the world. I am now back in the UK and recently acquired wires from lots of old televisions so am having great fun with new colours. My work is definitely a by-product of the 21st century & I have been described as a 'techno -cannibal' by BBC journalist Clare English. My career has spanned 3 decades and three different countries since leaving Edinburgh College of Art in 1990. The motivation behind my work comes from being the child of post war parents, Scottish thriftiness and an avid watcher of Blue Peter! I am keen to re-use, re-develop and re-create n my home and in my business.

Full description
Large Covid Brooch made from repurposed and recycled materials including wire from televisions, motors, and a button from a school shirt. To mark the pandemic, I have made a number of brooches to represent the image of the virus that has impacted us all since 2019.
The piece is detailed, intricate and made by hand with the use of small pliers and a needle.
The brooch with a branded card in pink and acid green envelope of made from recycled materials and comes with a card that describes the variety of materials and where they have been recycled from. My branding on my packaging is removable so that the packaging can be reused, Outer packaging is always reused or using up old stock from an other business.
Although this is a brooch, it could be worn as a pendant by threading onto a chain through the pin.
Will be delivered in recycled packaging with a pink branded card, recycled acid green envelope, sturdy recycled box & information card with free UK delivery.
