This is a horsehair and feather Raku pot made using Ashraf Hanna clay to give it a beautiful white colour. Raku is a traditional Japanese style of pottery whereby the pot is fired to bisque temperatures in an electric kiln and then a secondary firing takes place in a gas kiln. When the pot reaches temperature it is removed from the kiln and the feather and horsehair details are applied by hand by burning the organic material into the clay. Because of the low firing temperatures of Raku they are NOT food safe and will NOT hold water so are purely decorative
I use recycled packaging where possible.
