There is so much perfectly good fabric wasted, often being consigned to landfill. Many crafters also have hoards of materials which they purchased many moons ago but have never used.
I am happy to admit that I am one of these hoarders and I decided during lockdown that it was time to use what I had plus whatever fabrics I could salvage from a fate worse than landfill!
I scavenge boot fairs, charity shops, table top sales, remnants bins, factory outlets in fact, wherever I can glean scraps or yardage of fabric, yarn and threads.

Full description
A beautiful, soft, handquilted patchwork throw made from repurposed household linens and shirtings which give the piece a delightful shabby chic appearance. I have combined pretty spring-like colours to achieve a harmonious background which will showcase the hand quilting. Fabrics are hot washed prior to use.
The backing is flannelette sheeting which tones with the front.
The polyester wadding is new, a leftover from a previous project.
It is essential that the three layers of the quilt are held together firmly thus preventing any bunching or splitting of the wadding when the quilt is used and laundered. I have used a sturdy, vintage crochet cotton in a variegated pink colourway.
These quilts are my artwork, they are signed and titled and there is a label on the reverse giving details of the piece.
This quilt took about 75 hours to make including preparation of fabrics and stitching.
Size approx: 53" x 40" 135cm x 101cm
Wash on the delicate setting, gentle spin and dry flat.
My quilts can also be hung on a wall. I will add a sleeve at no extra charge if requested.
