Full description
This is a pair of 100% handcrafted bookends made from concrete and reclaimed blocks of pine wood.
The wooden blocks have a burnt finish which gives a great uplift to the texture of the material and a rustic dark red brownish shade. Since the wood is recycled and has a previous use there are various marks, cracks and scars on it which we preserved in order to maintain the reclaimed character of the pieces as well as to create a rustic vintage/industrial vintage style.
For a better finish and in order to preserve the wood we covered the blocks with high quality Osmo oil after completing the process of burning and after brushing them off and slightly sanding them.
The cement part is also 100% handmade, hand poured, as well as the molds for the cement shaping were also handcrafted. The inside part of the concrete blocks is hand painted with multiple coats of burnt brick red chalk finish paint. The height of each piece is around 27.3 cm and the side is approximately 8.5cm (27.3x8.5x8.5cm). Each bookend weights around 1.67kg.
