Langside Halls sits proudly within the very heart of Shawlands. It is a vibrant community space, sandwiched between Queen’s Park and the bustling shopping and cafe district of the south side.
This is a natural hub for us to converge and mingle, to walk, to read, to play….to be happy!
Market day brings added vibrancy and colour. Local produce and craft stalls offer a sense of village life deep within Glasgow’s south side.
Langside Halls was originally built in 1847 to house the first National Bank of Scotland in Queen Street. Incredibly though, it was dismantled and rebuilt brick-by-brick at its present location in 1902! Today, this building serves the community with a wide range of services and activities and continues to be an iconic and much loved landmark of Shawlands.
I hope that the elemental and buoyant style of my illustration evokes the relaxed, colourful and vibrant feel of the Halls and its surroundings. A spot which we love and visit regularly.
