All the items in my shop are handmade by myself in my studio in Scotland! I use a variety of different glass techniques to create unique designs and custom orders are always welcome.

I was fortunate enough to find that the constellations of both Ursa Major and Minor fit onto my little glass bear while also using the other stars that surround them in the night sky. The white and black enamel produces a reaction that raises the white printed detail slightly for an added texture on this sculpture.

Full description

This black bear is charting the constellations of Ursa Major & Minor as it plods across the sky!

This bear is made from one piece of chunky 10mm thick clear float glass that has been cut to shape using a water jet cutting machine.

It has then been screen-printed by hand in this star constellations design using black and white glass enamel, which is fired into place making it waterproof and resistant to sunlight. All my kiln-fired pieces are carefully digitally annealed and cooled for strength and safety.

Finally a small clear glass base is fused onto the bears feet for stability and it is gift boxed with a story card.

It measures -

Height - 110mm / 4 1/4 inches

Width - 200mm / 7 4/5 inches

Depth - 20mm / 3/4 inch

Weight - 362g / 12 3/4 oz

The image above is an example, as each Bear is unique, due to the making process.

Bears are also available as brooches, cuff-links and greetings cards in my shop collections.
