These beads are made from reconstituted turquoise, which gives the look of natural turquoise without the fancy price tag.
About 4000 years ago Ancient Egyptians made a form of reconstituted turquoise. It differed from todays product as they didn't actually use turquoise. They used crushed quartz which was then dyed, glazed and heated.
Today, as Turquoise is a fairly soft stone, it is easy to grind it to a powder, add resins and dye and form into blocks. These blocks are then made into beads.
Turquoise is the birthstone for December and Sagittarius.

I have added these earrings to the 'Seconds Sunday' sale - they are in perfect condition, but are an old line, and I need to clear some older stock to make way for new lines.
Striking earrings made of hematite 3mm cubes, 6mm reconstituted turquoise rondelles and ornate, Tibetan style (nickel and lead free) spacer beads in an antique gold finish.
The beads are hung from black metal ear-wires, which are also nickel and lead free.
These drop earrings measure approximately 1.25 inches (3cm) excluding the wires.
Your earrings will be wrapped in tissue and sent, 2nd class, in a recycled padded envelope.
