This print is a protest again the taxing of period products. When I made this print the 'tampon tax' had not yet been abolished in the UK. Period pants had and still have 20% tax on them, making them a luxury item in every definition.
When the tax on period pads and tampons was finally abolished, the government did not require shops to pass on the discount to customers. Due to this, these products mostly remained the same price. The few that did reduce in price only went down by around 1% meaning the customers did not benefit from the removal of tax, only the shops did.
