Made in Wirral by Alison Bailey Smith - ABScraft and each piece takes a minimum of 2 hours to make. My work is definitely a by-product of the 21st century & I have been described as a 'techno -cannibal' by BBC journalist Clare English. My career has spanned 3 decades and three different countries since leaving Edinburgh College of Art in 1990. The motivation behind my work comes from being the child of post war parents, Scottish thriftiness and an avid watcher of Blue Peter! My need to re-use, re-develop and re-create can be seen in my use of ordinary materials in my creations.
Although my training was initially in jewellery and silver-smithing, I have crossed over successfully into the world of textiles, costume and fashion (I have won several awards including Scottish Fashion Designer of the Year, Recycling Fashion Designer of the Year and various awards for Fibre in North America and Australasia).

COPPER, PINK & GREEN RING WITH RECYCLED METALS- My puff jewel-like ring is built upon an adjustable silver plated sieve ring (14mm) with wire reclaimed from televisions , and with copper electrical wire combined with bought wire. This unique ring is presented in recycled box with a card that denotes the components that go into making the piece. A perfect gift for the eco-conscious consumer.
If you are shopping for Mother's day and you don’t want cut flowers that have flown half way round the earth and do want something that lasts, consider this ring for your mum. For the same price as a bouquet of flowers, give your loved one a gift that won’t cost the earth. Obviously this ring is not specific to MUMS alone and could be for any loved one for any occasion or even for yourself.
