Full description
A secret little wooden cabin sits tucked away in an autumnal forest - a magical place to escape to!
Inspired by my love of the the wilderness, my Scottish and North American genes, and influenced by my love of children's book illustration and also my time working on props and sets in the theatre. All my dioramas aim to create an alternative little world within a small contained space, something I was fascinated by as a child, and which continues to capture my imagination today.
The design comes from original drawings which have been transformed into pieces of laser cut plywood. I then paint each piece by hand and build them up to form 3d layers, adding paper details. The layers of wood are set into a stained glazed wooden box frame, which measures approx 11.5cm; the scene itself measures approx 7.8cm x 7.8cm.
Each diorama I make is completely unique.
To show its details clearly, this item is pictured without its frame glass.
Please note: the final image is for scale only, and hopefully gives you an idea of the size of these little scenes.
