I started making these to use up offcuts from other projects. After some trial and error with the design I settled on this. They are made from ash wood, which has a nice grain pattern running through it. I use the grain rings to guide the painting. No two are exactly the same which adds to their charm. They make fun gifts.

Full description
This is a set of three handmade wooden penguins. They are turned on the lathe, then painted with acrylic paint and then sealed with a gloss varnish. They range in height from 8 - 11cm tall.
