At Bigbury Mint Jewellery we have a huge collection of some 2000 tiny hand punches, many of which are perhaps a hundred years old. They are the traditional tools for creating lettering and designs on metal work. Modern jewellery doesn't use punches, but we love using them, especially to make jewellery where we feel the traditional techniques add to the flavour and integrity of the piece.
Each hand-punch represents hours or even days of meticulous work under a magnifying glass and so the collection of hand punches is a testament to the craftspeople who made them. We are proud to carry on that tradition to make individual hand-crafted pieces of jewellery.

Fiona is a stunning, highly reflective brass pendant featuring a flower design.
The tool used to produce the ‘Fiona’ range was created by Fiona Cocks, who has worked with Matthew for some 30 years. It uses the traditional method of punching the design using the collection of punches here are Bigbury Mint.
This pendant is made in brass here at the Ermington workshop. Each pendant has a unique number punched on the reverse, and each one is struck from a randomly chosen part of the die, and is therefore unique. The reverse of the pendant is also stamped with the Bigbury Mint logo - a traditional hammer symbol. The Pendant comes with a black cord, in a recycled and recyclable card gift box.
