Full description
This little sterling silver star has been hand enamelled using vitreous (glass) enamel. The colours used here are ivory and sea blue with a lovely glossy finish. It's the spotty star I'm offering for sale here, although others are also available to order, so please contact me.
Vitreous enamelling is the traditional enamelling that has been used by jewellers for hundreds of years. It is essentially fine glass powder fired at high temperature so that the glass melts and bonds to the metal. It's applied in several layers, each layer fired separately. The beauty of all the individually enamelled pieces is that each comes out different. Please note that this is proper enamel rather than painted on epoxy resin.
The star hangs on fine sterling silver chain. A slider bead makes it adjustable to any length up to 24" (61cm) making it very versatile and perfect for layering with other jewellery.
The star measures 12mm across and is 2.3mm deep.
