Full description
There is a miniature landscape across this pair of earrings – hills and trees. I have painted the scene in striking black and white. It is one of a series of tiny landscape designs inspired by the area where I live and work – rural Ceredigion in beautiful West Wales.
After forming the drops from fine white clay, I imprinted the design. When dry, I sanded the sides and rounded off the edges to ensure they are super smooth to the touch. They then had their first firing. Next I painted them using under-glazes and applied a transparent glaze before firing again to earthenware. The ceramic is glazed on the front, back and sides so is very smooth whilst retaining the texture of the imprinted design. The result is a pleasantly tactile item.
The ear wires are sterling silver.
This is a one-off listing, the earrings in the photographs are the actual pair you will receive.
Each drop is about 9mm across (just under half an inch), and the total length including the rings is 40mm, just over an inch and a half.
All my jewellery comes in an attractive eco-friendly box.
