What is Fordite?
Fordite, also known as Detroit agate or Motor City agate, is old car paint which was formed from the buildup of layers of enamel paint from when cars were hand spray-painted (a now automated process), which have been baked numerous times.
Made from years and years of build-up, this paint has now hardened sufficiently to be cut and polished. Lapidarists slice them up into pieces and shape them so that all the layers of colour can be seen. Jewellery makers then buy these smaller pieces to incorporate them into one-off pieces of jewellery for you!

Handcrafted statement ring made in sterling and recycled sterling silver
Triangular Fordite measures 0.9 x 0.7 cms
Total size of ring approx 1.8 x 1.1 cms
Reds, Blacks, Whites, Silver metallics and a yellow layer
Set with ornate design sterling silver, a solid silver back and twisted silver around the Fordite
Adjustable sterling silver hammered texture band approx 3mm wide

Presented in a recycled, unbleached gift box with mint green shimmery ribbon and "JewellerybyMarisha" logo on the bottom
