Full description
This maple bowl is turned from a piece of tree that was felled at the end of our road. The wood started to spalt which is a natural process caused by fungus in the wood and which gives the darker lines in the bowl's grain. The spalting has led to some minor surface cracking which adds to the beauty of the wood. The bowl has a flat bottom and is approximately 7cm tall and nearly 14cm in diameter. It is finished in a food safe beeswax and linseed oil balm giving a light sheen finish. The turning recess remains on the bottom with my "LD" makers brand.
