Full description
For centuries, beekeepers have used 'skeps', carefully designed domed straw baskets, to house their hives. This glass design started off as a sketch and then worked up to a design.
The glass is a mix of warm yellow and rich earthy purple. The glass is hand cut, wrapped and sealed in copper foil, assembled and finally soldered together using a soldering iron. The skep/hive is handpainted. A solitary wire bee buzzes about.
Carefully placed against in window with the sun shining through the glass, this happy bee will lighten up your room.
