I began this as a pattern and yarn combination when I had a yarn store. I would dye 24 individual and different mini skeins and then design a 24-day pattern to go along with them.
By my fourth Advent pattern, I wanted to make something completely different to what was out there. There are other advent shawl patterns but my pattern is the only one to focus on a pick-and-mix design. It’s a choose your own adventure but with a shawl pattern. The shawl is knit over 24 days. Each day, however, has a choice of between 6 to 15 patterns that the knitter can choose from.
The combination of shawls available is a huge number (which I haven't figured out yet) and it gives knitters an opportunity to knit something different each time.
There is a pattern-choice tracking list in the document as well so knitters can make a note of their selections.

Full description

You knit one shawl pattern over 24 days but you get to choose the pattern, and the number of combinations is almost endless.

The selection of stitches includes lace work, colour work, cables, two-colour brioche, and a host of other designs, including borders and edgings. Some are simple while others can be detailed and intricate.

The shawl is knit over 24 days. Each day, however, has a choice of 6 to 12 patterns that the knitter can choose from.

Each day's yarn is provided the mini skeins come wrapped in their own numbered packages so the appropriate one can be opened on the day of Advent it's designed for.
