Full description

Inspired by 1950s originals, particularly those made by the Danish industrial designer Jacob Hermann, these little stylised birds are currently made to order in four sizes and a choice of six hardwoods - cherry, elm, walnut, mahogany, iroko and sycamore (European maple).

Each one is handmade, and so all are slightly different, but approximate sizes are 190x60x25mm (large), 140x70x25mm (medium), 100x45x25mm (small) and 120x100x25 (tall). The timber used may vary in colour and figure from the examples above - cherry and walnut especially can vary considerably, so if a particular look is important to you just ask, and I will send a photo of the actual wood for approval.

Most of the woods used are either reclaimed (e.g. mahogany and iroko), or are offcuts from furniture or guitar making timber. The mahogany is usually African (either sapele or khaya), while cherry and walnut may be either American or European, depending on what I have available. The legs are steel wire, and the birds are finished with several coats of shellac and a microcrystalline wax for protection.

Other woods may be available from time to time. Please enquire if you would like something different to the six listed above.

10% discount when buying a pair (any combination of sizes), or 15% off a family of three (one of each size) - just send me a message and let me know exactly what you would like. These are all made to order so despatch time may be a little longer when ordering multiples
