Full description
Inspired by 1950s originals, particularly those made by the Danish industrial designer Jacob Hermann, these are deluxe versions of my little carved birds, using highly figured or exotic musical instrument grade timbers.
Available in a choice of three timbers - roasted ripple sycamore (European maple), African pau rosa or Cambridgeshire bog oak (c.3300BC) - and in the small size (c.100x45x25mm) only, these have thicker legs made from silicon bronze, inlaid bronze eyes rather than shellac (the photos show birch eyes but all deluxe birds are now upgraded to bronze to match their larger cousins...), and the same oil varnish I use on my instruments for a more luxurious feel (a linseed oil/beeswax finish is also available on request for a more natural look and feel).
Each one is handmade, and so all are slightly different, but if a particular look is important to you just ask, and I can send a photo of the actual wood for approval. Other wood options and sizes may be available from time to time (e.g. flame maple, katalox, plum, laburnum), so please feel free to enquire if you would like something different to the two timbers listed.
10% discount when buying a pair. These are all made to order so despatch time may be a little longer when ordering multiples.
