Each Christmas one of my gifts 'for underneath the tree' is a new Santa to add to my collection, and have to admit, I love those olde worlde Santas and when I saw this pattern, I was immediately smitten with him and knew he'd make a very unique creation for my vintage bed springs.

Full description
This very unique Santa is known as 'Belsnickel' who seemingly was a crotchety, fur-clad Christmas gift-bringer figure in the folklore of southwestern Germany. Although, I'm sure you will agree he's not crotchety at all, he's gorgeous and will make a fabulous addition to the Christmas decorations collection. He's even got his own Reindeer to make sure he's going in the right direction to get to your home.
I used red checked Homespun cotton fabric, with soft batting to create his 'coat' and hat edging, with his beard and those bushy eyebrows made with silk, all of which have been 'hand felted' into place. His French knot eyes are made using cotton thread. With his finishing touches being a tiny red bell attached to his hat. He has been attached to one of my vintage bed springs making it very easy for putting him on display. His Reindeer has matching Homespun fabric, antlers and legs from crafters wire and his wee nose is a red pin button.
