Thank you for shopping with us.
I have made several of these vessels after working with colour on other projects and I have been really enjoying the process. The amount of ripple in the timber always has a large say in how the piece looks as the dyes are absorbed into these areas at different rates creating a chatoyancy or "cats eye" effect.
You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.
Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; items which deteriorate quickly (e.g. food), personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken; digital items.
Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.
This hand-turned piece is in perfect condition but as Alan has retired from woodturning it is being offered for sale at a discount of 40%.
Totally unique - never to be made again!
This piece is made from Rippled English Sycamore which has been dyed using multiple layers of colour.
The colouring process is a little like watercolour painting in that you can add and subtract and blend colours to give the effect you are looking for. The pinks and reds of the vessel form a backdrop to the emphasis of the ripple of the timber which has been picked out using yellow.
The black finial adds height and compliments the shape of the vessel.
Overall this is a stunning piece and would look great as a focal point in any room.
Please note that this vessel does NOT open in the middle, only the finial is removable.
Finished with 5 coats of Gloss laquer and buffed to a shine.
Approx 14 cm diameter x 14 cm high
Designed by Anne & Alan Thomas in Cornwall
