This painting was a first for me. It was an experiment in muted colour palettes and pattern. The subjects of the painting developed as the colours and patterns started to knit together.

The colours offer a dreamlike quality to the scene and do not jar on the eye, at all. I was intending to keep this, as it has a 'textile' quality, quite unintentional but also a revelation to me, but space is at a premium and I need room for more artworks.

I have tried to capture the colours as accurately as possible with my camera. The pinkish colours are more of a pale terracotta, rather than a pink and the first photograph above is the closest to actual colours.
