A simple message that means so much to everyone.
The saying "Home, Sweet Home" originally came from a song from the opera Clari, or the Maid of Milan. This was first performed at Covent Garden, London in 1823. The lyrics were written by American actor and playwright John Howard Payne (1791-1852).

This unique set of 4 coasters has been upcycled from reclaimed wood and will brighten up any table. Each coaster has the wording 'Home Sweet Home' pyrographed on it. They would make a perfect gift for a number of occasions such as a housewarming gift, Christmas Gift or a new home gift.
Each of these coasters is approximately 10 cms by 10 cms. The depth of them is approximately 1 cm.

I am a firm believer in upcycling using reclaimed wood whenever possible. I often recycle the packaging I send out my items in.
To make these coasters I firstly cut suitable size pieces of plywood and sanded them to produce a smooth finish. Plywood is wood which has been laminated together to produce a strong stable wood. Thin strips of birch wood laminate were cut to apply an edging to the plywood and were then attached to the coasters, to seal the edges of the plywood. This is a common practice within carpentry, thus making it more pleasing to the eye. Each coaster was slightly chamfered. A template was applied to the wood and transferred using carbon paper. The image was then completed by using pyrography. They were then coated in natural Shellac and finished with coats of lacquer which is heat and water resistant. Each coaster has 4 small plastic buffer pads, on the back to prevent them from scratching surfaces.
Thanks for visiting.
